#DearMe

#dearmeI was so inspired by the many #DearMe videos on YouTube today, that I thought I should do one myself. The basic idea is that as a older, and wiser woman, what advice would you give to your teenage self? Oh man, there’s a lot.

Dear Teenaged Kristi,

Remember when you were younger, and you loved being unique? Where did that go? God made you the way you are for a reason. That pale skin is beautiful. Your curly hair is beautiful! Don’t iron your hair with an iron! You will ruin it! Wear more sunscreen!
Don’t be so worried about having a boyfriend or being in love — it’s more important to love yourself right now, the rest will come later. Stop comparing yourself to others! It’s okay to be emotional. Emotions, and the ability to cry is a beautiful thing. You were blessed with a sensitive spirit, and sometimes it may feel like a curse that you are hurt so easily by small things, but it also means that you can enjoy the small beauties of life and love more deeply. One day someone will tell you that you have a tender heart, and it will mean a lot to you.
Say your prayers and read your scriptures! It is so important to have that connection with your Heavenly Father. You need the peace and calm that can only come through prayers and scripture study.
Don’t apologize for being smart! Why do you pretend not to like things, just because other people don’t like them? You like Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake, and just because that doesn’t fit in with the rest of your music styles doesn’t mean you can’t listen to it.
Just don’t worry. Don’t worry. “Every little thing will be all right”.

If you could write a letter to your younger self, what would you say?
