Spring/Summer Reading List

When I was a kid, one of my favourite things about summer was reading. I remember going to the library with my mom and my siblings and getting stamps for reading books. To this day, when I think of summer, I think of reading. Of course I also think of sunshine and beaches and lemonade, but in my mind all of those things are better with a book. So, in honor of the sunshine and lovely spring and summer ahead of us, today I am going to share my spring/summer reading list. These are books that are either coming out soon, have been on my shelf unread, or I’m just dying to read.springsummerreadinglist

1. Yes Please by Amy Poehler. Having just recently fallen madly in love with Parks and Recreation, I am having a strong desire to read this one. I have a deep love for female comedian biographies (like Tina’s Bossypants and Mindy’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?), so I am sure I will love this just as much.

2. Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee. This summer (July 14th to be exact), Harper Lee, the author of the beloved book To Kill a Mockingbird is finally releasing a new one! This is actually a sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird. I am so, so excited to get my hands on this one!

3. The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks. I haven’t seen this movie yet, but I definitely want to read the book before I do. I bought this book ages ago, and haven’t read it yet. Actually, I did read a few chapters a while back, but then got distracted either by school, Netflix or another book (story of my life).

4. Dad is Fat by Jim Gaffigan. I loved his latest, Food: A Love Story, so I really want to read his first book. Also, I am hoping that this will help heal my heart because he isn’t coming to Calgary (or any Canadian cities) on his comedy tour this summer.

5. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice is my favourite book, and I also loved Emma, but I haven’t read this one yet. This will be the summer that I finally do!

What’s on your reading list? I’d love to have more books to add to my ever-growing list!
