What’s in My Makeup Bag | May 2015

maymakeupIt’s that time! Today I will be sharing all the things that I’ve been using all month long. For the most part, these are the products that I have been using every day, the ones that I reach for over others in my collection.
maymakeup3Face. I’ve actually switched things up since my last monthly makeup post. I’ve since added Benefit’s POREfessional, which is a great smoothing balm primer that helps to reduce the look of pores. I like to concentrate it around my t-zone and cheeks because that’s where my pores are most visible and where my makeup tends to disappear first. One thing that I really love about this is that you can actually apply it on top of your foundation later in the day and it actually helps to diminish the look of pores.
Next on my face comes Bobbi Brown’s BB Cream SPF 35 (in Fair). I posted a review earlier this month (you can read that here), and my love has just increased since. I love the creamy texture, the ease of blending and the fact that it has a decent SPF.
For concealer, since I finished my favourite a while ago, I have been using the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer. I use this under my eyes for a brightening effect and to help reduce the look of the blue veins and dark circles I get. I don’t like this as much as the Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment (in the brightener shade), but I do like the applicator and find it works pretty good.
For bronzer I have recently added The Body Shop’s Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder (in 03, Medium Matte). I love that this isn’t orange at all and gives my skin a lovely sun-kissed look. I will warn you though, less is definitely more! Sometimes I can be a bit heavy-handed and that does not work so well with this one. The tiniest bit really goes a long way.maymakeup2Eyes. Last week I shared my thoughts on my newest eyeshadow palette, the Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette. I love using this for every day, simple looks and also for days or nights when I want a bit more drama (but let’s be honest, my makeup is usually pretty drama free). As much as I have been loving a good matte eyeshadow look, sometimes I need a bit of shimmer, so I have been adding Benefit’s Longwear Powder Shadow in Thanks A Latte for the loveliest hint of golden-brown shimmer.
In terms of mascara, I am still loving Covergirl’s Full Lash Bloom Mascara (in Very Black). I find that this is the perfect mascara for every day, as it gives my lashes extra length and a bit of volume too. Though, when I want some extra volume, I’ve recently been using the new Covergirl Super Sizer Mascara which is great for length and lots of volume (I think I might do a post about that soon, so keep an eye out)!
Brows. Lately I’ve ditched eyebrow pencils because I’m okay with my brow shape for the most part, and most pencils aren’t the right shade for me anyhow. (I am on the hunt for a good brow powder though, so please share your favourites in the comments). I don’t leave my ‘brows to fend for themselves though. To help them stay in place, I use Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara and Brow Gel. The gel can get a bit goopy, but as long as I scrape off most of the product off in the tube, it’s fine. I like that this one keeps my brows neat, but doesn’t make the hairs crispy once it dries (as long as I don’t use too much product that is). Also, you can go wrong with the price (I’m pretty sure I paid less than $5 for that one).
Lips. As I was reading through this post, I realized I completely forgot about lips! That’s probably because I have switched it up almost daily when it comes to lip colour this month. I am definitely still loving the YSL Volupté Tint-in-Oil (in 04, I Rose You) for days when I don’t want to think too much about it or just need something soothing, but more than a lip balm. I also have fallen back in love with my favourite every-day-don’t-even-need-a-mirror-pink-shade, Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake. For days when I want a pop of colour I have been loving the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stains and Matte Balms, especially in Sweetheart, Cherish and Showy.

Have you tried any of these products? What’s your favourite brow powder? What makeup bits have you been wearing this month?
