The Weekend Post | 08.01.15

weekendpost080115Happy August! I can’t believe July has come and gone and it’s officially August today. I’m hoping to do a lot of fun things this month, and enjoying a lot of sunshine in the process. This weekend we are camping for a family reunion with my dad’s side of the family. Most of my dad’s family doesn’t live in Calgary, so we don’t get to see each other very much. I’m looking forward to some time at the lake, and some time away from work (which also means my phone too, sorry Instagram). It’s been a tough week personally so Christopher and I could really use the time away. I love my family, and am looking forward to getting to know them even better. I am really so lucky that I have so many cousins (both my parents come from families of eight kids) and that we like each other.

Like I said, it’s been a tough week, but there have been some good moments. On Tuesday, Christopher took the day off and we went to see Pixels at the theatre. It was a really great movie. I read an article that talked about how Adam Sandler isn’t doing well in his movies because he’s not changing his characters at all, but I love his movies regardless. If you have ever played an 80’s arcade-style video game, want to see Kevin James as the President or need a good laugh, you should see it. My dad’s best friend and his wife (who I call my uncle and aunt because we’re very close) were in town from Colorado, so we went for Chinese at the best place in Calgary (Toi Shan), which was followed by ice cream (from D Dutchmen Dairy in Sicamous) at my brother and sister-in-law’s. The rest of the week has been taken up by blogging things. Since I’ll be away for the long weekend, I wanted to get a lot done for my posts next week so I’m not worrying about it this weekend. I think I may also have figured out a new routine which will help me in weeks to come, especially with September and another semester of school coming up.
