My Travel Makeup Bag

travelmakeupbag5Last weekend, I went camping for a family reunion with my dad’s side of the family. On a normal camping trip, I wouldn’t be too concerned about taking my makeup bag with me. However, we went to church that Sunday (in the town where my grandma grew up), so I felt the need to put something on my face. I just can’t go to church without makeup. I remember one time last year, after we moved, I forgot to wear makeup one Sunday (because I’d been off work and unpacking all week) and felt like I was missing a limb or a piece of clothing. Anyhow, I thought I would share what I had in my travel makeup bag.

travelmakeupbag7I wanted to still keep my makeup simple, so I stuck with easy favourites that wouldn’t be too heavy, but would give my face some life. I started with Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Pore Minimizing Makeup Primer. I love this primer because it really smooths out my skin, and helps my base to stay on longer. Since I would be outside after church in the morning, I wanted something light, so I stuck with my Bobbi Brown BB Cream. It also has an SPF of 35, which was a bonus. I used a bit of Maybelline Fit Me Concealer for some extra coverage under my eyes, and the redness on my nose from being out in the sun the day before. For bronzer, I kept it simple with the wonderful Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder from The Body Shop. I ended up doing my makeup in the car (as a passenger) on the way to the chapel, so I’m really glad I chose to bring these easy to blend products.

summertravelmakeupbag2For eyes (after priming with NARS Pro Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Primer) I used my favourite basic palette — the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. To add some bronze and light shimmer, I dusted on a bit of Benefit Cosmetics Longwear Powder Eyeshadow in Thanks A Latte. I know I’ve talked about those two a lot, but it’s for a good reason. They are amazing. And of course, I had to use my favourite mascara, Covergirl Full Lash Bloom Mascara. I love this mascara so much. It’s definitely a dry mascara, but it doesn’t flake at all, and it give my lashes a long and fluttery look.

To add some longevity, I used Urban Decay’s All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. Also, I used one of the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stains in the shade Sweetheart (which I of course forgot when I was taking these photos). You can see the full look in action in this Instagram post.
