August Playlist

augustplaylistalbumsThis month, I have had a new appreciation for music. I have been reminded how much I need it in my life, how much I need it to motivate me, to lift my spirits, to feed my soul. Like every month, my list is an eclectic collection, but I feel like it encapsulates this month well. There are beautiful songs perfect for a rainy day, like “Caves” from Jack’s Mannequin and “The Best Thing” by Doveman. There are songs perfect for singing along to while I get ready in the mornings, like “Timberwolves at New Jersey” from Taking Back Sunday (“literate and stylish, kissable and quiet” are some of the best lyrics ever written) and “The Grand Optimist” from City & Colour. There are songs perfect for holding onto that summer feeling, like “Can’t Feel My Face” from The Weeknd (if you haven’t seen Tom Cruise’s lip sync of this song, you are missing out). And there are songs perfect for anything, but especially in the background while I read, like “If I Could Write” from Sam Phillips (blame recent re-watching of Gilmore Girls for that one) and “Sleep Through the Static” by Jack Johnson. Every song on this list has been a favourite, but my number one song this month has been “Let it Go” by James Bay. I’ve been having a bit of a James Bay moment lately, and that song has definitely been on repeat.
