Empties | Products I’ve Used Up #8

octoberempties-8Another month, another empties post. I always think that I must be done with finishing loads of products at a time, and then I look at my bin of empty products and realize that a lot can happen in a month. This month I actually finished a few makeup items, which is pretty exciting since that rarely happens.

octoberempties-7For makeup, I finished off two concealers in the last month, the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (in Fair) and the Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer. Together, they worked great to cover the bags under my eyes. I already repurchased the Fit Me Concealer, and might consider getting the Dream Lumi Touch again, but probably not for a while. I also finished the Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara and Brow Gel, which was pretty good, but not amazing. I also used up a bottle of the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat. This top coat is amazing, and definitely made my polish stay on longer while giving a perfectly shiny coat. I will definitely repurchase in the future.

octoberempties-4For hair, I used up bottles of Bumble and bumble’s Thickening Dryspun Finish and Batiste XXL Volume Dry Shampoo. For a girl who is always craving more volume, especially when I straighten my hair, these were both amazing. The Thickening Dryspun Finish gave my hair a lot of texture, perfect for day two when I want to do braids or a messy bun, or keep my hair from falling flat. Unfortunately it’s pretty pricey ($37 for the full size), so it might be a while before I repurchase it. The XXL Volume Dry Shampoo from Batiste was great for days when I wanted my dry shampoo to soak up extra oil and give my hair a lot of volume (yes it does live up to its name). It has a really powdery finish, so it definitely left the feeling of product in my hair, but I don’t usually mind that very much. It’s very similar to the Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo and a fraction of the cost, so I will definitely buy this one again.

octoberempties-2In terms of body products, I finished up a shave cream, body wash, baby shampoo and body lotion. The EOS Lavender Jasmine Shave Cream is really moisturizing, and does its job. I’ve already repurchased a bottle, going with the Vanilla Bliss one this time. I used up another bottle of the Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash, which is perfect for my sensitive skin. I would definitely buy another in the future. We may not have any babies at our house, but I do use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo — for cleaning my makeup brushes. I love using baby shampoo for my brushes because it’s gentle, but does a great job of cleaning them and its super cheap compared to other brush cleansers. I have already repurchased a bottle, and will likely continue doing so for a while to come. The body lotion that I finished this last month is Vaseline’s Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant. This lotion is really rich, moisturizing, sinks into the skin fast and keeps my skin feeling soft for the whole day, plus it has a lovely cocoa butter scent.

octoberempties-5Lastly, we have my skin care empties. I finished the Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet Moisturizer from The Body Shop and the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Jelly. I really didn’t like either very much, but they weren’t so bad that I wouldn’t use them. The Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet is a really lightweight moisturizer that definitely made my skin feel hydrated, but I really don’t like the texture of it. I also had to be careful not to put my makeup on too soon after applying it since it would make my primer ball up on my skin. And though I love the Hydraluron Serum, I found the Moisture Jelly did not leave my skin feeling very hydrated, and I didn’t really like the texture of it either. At least I know now that I definitely prefer a creamy texture over a jelly or sorbet one.

Have you tried any of these products? What have you used up lately? Would you repurchase anything?
