Goals for 2017

First of all, Happy New Year! Can you believe it’s 2017 already? I know a lot of us are happy for the new year and hoping to leave the bad parts of 2016 behind. I always love a fresh start. I was going to post this a few days ago, but I thought it would be better to take a few more days off, give myself more time to clean the house and start 2017 with this blog post. I’ve made a lot of goals for this year, some personal, some work and home related. Today I am sharing a few of my goals, hoping that by sharing them I will be accountable for them, and will work harder to complete them.

  1. BLOG MORE. 2016 was not a good year in terms of blogging. I struggled with my routine in the spring when I started working part-time, and then again in the fall when we moved and when I started watching my nephew full-time. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to post, and felt really overwhelmed and needed some time away and no regular schedule in order to sort through some things. I don’t want 2017 to be the same. I want to get back to blogging nearly every day, and sharing my love for all things beauty, books and life.
  2. SAVE MONEY. Last year, I tried really hard to be more thoughtful in my spending. I did well for a while, but fell off the wagon a bit and needed to be whipped back into shape in a bad way. A few months ago, Christopher and I started being more strict and honest with our budget, and it has really helped me to say no to spending money when I don’t need to. This year, I want us to make an effort to put money away, whether for larger purchases (still searching for the perfect accent chairs for our living room and bed frame), a house (we’re still years away from that goal, but we need to start saving), or just to have.
  3. READ MORE. I was so far off from my reading goal in 2016 it’s laughable. I went through a few ruts and had a hard time getting into reading. Netflix may have been to blame for that sometimes, but I definitely could have made more of an effort. Last month I read a few books (more than I had read in the four months previous), and realized how much I missed reading. I’m not sure how many books I want to read this year, but I know that I want to read more than I did last year, and make reading a big part of my life (and blog) again.
  4. WORRY LESS. My husband once said that I would make a good spy because I’m so paranoid. I worry a lot. About everything. It gets so bad that it stops me from doing things, and I don’t want to be subject to my anxieties anymore. Though I may not be able to stop worrying entirely, I want to take steps to worry less and not have it be such a big part of my life anymore.
